Are you one of those people that always have plenty of excuses on why you are not eating healthy? Or why you have to eat out so much? Well if you are you need to ready this, if you are not you should too because there is a couple cool tips you might use it for yourself to make you life easier when it comes to meal prepping.
When it comes to eating healthy a lot of people have their opinion on the subject, I will put mine in this blog. I think that every person should prepaper their own meals at least 85% of the time, you should be able to go to the grocery store, select the right and healthy ingredients for your week and go home and prep some delicious foods that will get you excited to eat it. I have found a passion for cooking that has grown stronger every day in me. What trigger my interest was when I was talking about nutrition with someone and they told me “If you are eating healthy, it doesn’t have to taste good, you just have to eat it.” That sentence made me determinant to find great recipes and try different things with the most whole and healthy foods.
I knew that making things simple and delicious I would need to most efficient gadgets around to help me prove my point. I started with a Suvi or Sous Vide. This is known as precision cooking, it is used in restaurants to cook, steak, chicken, fish and many other things. You place a steak or any meat of your choice in a plastic ziplock bag or vacuumed sealed and place it on a pot where your Sous Vide is attached to, the machine will keep the water whatever temperature you desire for example medium rare is 132F. After it is in there for an hour you take it out and just give some grill marks on the BBQ or with a little olive oil you can sear it as well. You can do multiple steaks at once. It is amazing!
The other thing I drove my wife crazy about getting or the infamous InstaPot. When we finally got it I was super sketched out about using a pressure cooker because I wasn’t very familiar with it and didn’t want my house to explode, haha. There is nothing like YouTube to teach you all the tricks about it and 10 min later I was trying my first meal. I have cooked a couple different things in there but my favorite so far has been the pull pork.
If you’d like to try this recipe here it is: 2-3 tenderloin (Ilike using the Trader Joe’s one, it is about $5 per unit), I use salt and pepper and garlic powder. I use the Sautee setting for about 5 min each side with a little olive oil. Once that is done I add other seasoning, the ones that I like are: Seasoning Salt (from Trader Joe’s), cumin, oregano, onion salt, chipotle powder, smoked paprika. Then I add coconut aminos and chicken or beef broth. Put your InstaPot on high pressure for 90 min and walk away. Use the Nature Pressure Release and once that is done open the lid and pull the meat apart, let it sit on the broth for about 10-15 min and then serve or put it on tupperware for your meal preps.
For my sides I change things up every week to keep it fun, I like mashed sweet potatoes, asparagus, zucchini, salads, brussels sprouts. Make it fun , make it whole foods and make it delicious.
