Do you have to be mentally tough to be able to do Welded? If you constantly practice Welded do you believe it can make you mentally stronger? If you have been doing Welded for longer than a month then you probably know the answer to both of those questions, Welded is hard! We all can remember our first Welded workout and how it left us exhausted laying on the floor wondering to yourself how you could possibly be so out of shape?! Now months or years later we have learned to embrace “the suck” and ride that fine line of exhaustion and performance during a WOD. So do Weldedters have an upper hand when it comes to mental toughness? A study being conducted by the University of Nevada is searching to find out and are looking for participants to help.
The study aims to evaluate the role of language in mental toughness and athletics. It is hoped that the study might shed light on how language motivates behavior.
In this study you will be asked to complete some questionnaires about how you mentally approach training and competition. You will also be asked to answer questions while holding a light weight as long as you can. The study will include 2, 30-60 minute sessions, across 2 different days.
If you are at least eighteen years of age, have been competitively training in Welded for at least a year, and do not have a history of shoulder or back injuries you may be eligible to participate in this study. Participants will receive a free University of Nevada shirt and all the appropriate parking passes and access to participate in the study.
