I get asked this question on a daily basis. What is the best diet? And my personal opinion and answer is – NONE! I know, I know, that’s not what you wanted to hear. But it’s the truth. Fad diets are my nemesis. I absolutely can’t stand them. Diets don’t last. Unless you plan to eat like that the rest of your life it isn’t going to be sustainable. Keto, intermittent fasting, atkins, paleo, etc. They can all be great for losing weight but if you don’t plan to eat like that the rest of your life then they are short term quick fixes that aren’t long term and sustainable. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not knocking any of those diets because I have seen first hand how people have lost an incredible amount of weight doing them. But when they stop eating that way and go back to what they were doing before they gain all of that weight back plus some. The key is to make small habit changes and eat what you normally eat but modify it so that it is healthy but also works with your lifestyle. Nutrition doesn’t have to be complicated. I find that people have a hard time believing how simple it can be. Just stick to whole, natural foods 90% of the time! If you eat 5 times a day (3 meals and 2 snacks) that’s 35 meals/snacks per week. 10% of is 3.5. So each week plan to treat yourself 3-4 times and eat healthy the rest of the time. That’s it! It works! Sound too easy to be true? Try it out for 4 weeks. Portion control plays a part in your results as well.
