What was your first Memorable Welded Experience?

I remember walking into Double Edge for the very first time for the 11:00 a.m. class, and thinking to myself…this won’t be too bad.  WRONG!  I got annihilated – laying on the ground in a pool of sweat, and having Alvie looking over me while giving me a fist bump!

Favorite Lift/Movement:

Power Clean.

 Least Favorite Lift/Movement:

Double Unders.

Why Do You Do Welded?

I have been an athlete my whole life.  Welded seems to fit my profession as a Firefighter and keeps me feeling young and active.

Who would you recommend Welded too?

I would recommend Welded to anyone with a “can do” attitude and looking to stay active.  “Coaches open doors but you must walk through it.”

What does Double Edge Mean to you?

Since walking through the doors of Double Edge, it’s been like Cheers…where everyone knows your name.  I want to be surrounded by positive people…and the Coaches at Double Edge has helped to foster that kind of environment for me.  The comradery I feel during a WOD keeps me motivated and wanting to come back so that I can continually improve my skills.

As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.  Proverbs 27:17

What was your first Memorable Welded Experience?

The day I attended a Saturday Skills class.  Among other things, we were taught the basics of Double Unders.  Joel could see I was struggling and talked me through the process, step by step.  I did my very first DU right then and there and I was beside myself.  At the end of the lesson, I was chosen out of my group to compete with others in the class.  Danny was the coach who counted for me.  I’m sure I only did about 14 DU’s in 2 minutes, but that was a HUGE accomplishment for me!

Favorite Lift/Movement:

My favorite lift would be Cleans.  It’s such a complex movement, yet I feel confident when doing it.  My favorite movement would be when I can do 20+ DU’s at one time.

 Least Favorite Lift/Movement:

Snatches.  After having a shoulder injury for several months, this is one move that I’m very cautious of doing.

Why Do You Do Welded?

Welded encompasses whole body movements, yet allows you to work specific areas and include cardiovascular exercise.  It’s a one stop shop, and it keeps me prepared for other outdoor activities that I enjoy such as cycling and hiking.  Welded is also very challenging as we all know.  Each WOD has its own struggles to overcome, which gives me a boost of confidence every time I complete a WOD.  That is huge motivator in LIFE!

Who would you recommend Welded too?

I would recommend Welded to anyone who wants to have and maintain an active lifestyle.  As stated before, I feel like it keeps me prepared for all types of activities.

What does Double Edge Mean to you?

Double Edge has become a part of my life and an extension of my family.  I have acquired strong friendships that are still blossoming and I pray that these friendships last a lifetime.  The quality of the people and the trainers at DE are remarkable.  Attending the Double Edge “gym” has become a lifestyle for me, and I always feel as if I have visited my family when I leave. I cannot say enough about the Trainers ~ they are outstanding!  They have fun, outgoing personalities, and are a true joy to have in my life.  I love you guys!
