HYROX Training at Double Edge Fitness

What is HYROX?

HYROX is a standardized indoor fitness race consisting of:
• 8 x 1km runs
• 8 functional fitness workouts, including:
• Sled Push
• Sled Pull
• Burpee Broad Jumps
• Rowing
• Farmer’s Carry
• Sandbag Lunges
• Wall Balls

It’s one of the most complete tests of strength, endurance, pacing, and mental toughness.
Our training prepares you for every aspect of the race.

Our Training Approach

General Physical Preparedness
Our proven CrossFit-based programming builds the strength, conditioning, and durability required to perform well in HYROX.

You develop:
• Strength
• Aerobic capacity
• Work capacity
• Movement efficiency
This foundation allows you to handle the high-volume hybrid demands of HYROX racing.

Structured Running Development

Running makes up 50%-60% of a HYROX race, so we place strong emphasis on building efficient running capacity.

Our program includes:
• Threshold running
• Compromised running (running under fatigue)
• Interval development
• Long aerobic runs for endurance

This ensures you’re prepared to run strong before, during, and after heavy functional work.

HYROX-Specific Conditioning

When we commit to an event as a commuity, we begin a very structured training block and regularly incorporate HYROX-specific elements into training, including:

Sled push and sled pull development
Wall ball endurance
Grip and carry strength
Race pacing strategies
Transition efficiency

Along with hyrox simulations to get as prepared as possible for race day!
Our goal is to make race day feel familiar and manageable.

Expert Coaching

HYROX training at Double Edge Fitness is led by Derek Wellock, owner and head coach.
With 20+ years of coaching experience in strength and conditioning, CrossFit, and endurance training, Derek combines proven training methodology with real-world racing experience to guide athletes toward peak performance.
