Coach/Owner/President Derek Wellock says he specializes in having a good time. “Fitness is supposed to be recess for adults, and I strive to make sure when I am working with people they are having a good time getting healthy,” he says.
Derek’s favorite quote is Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” “The parallels between fitness and faith are awesome,” he says. “Taking a new person who is scared of a class and coach lead environment and having the ability to guide, teach, and empower them to have the confidence to come in and change their lives is the most rewarding thing I get to do every single day. Helping members take the daily steps to lifestyle commitment and lifestyle change is truly a blessing.”
Vice-President Jacob Wellock has always been an action junkie with a passion for extreme sports. Motocross and Boardercross (snowboard racing) were his biggest addictions until he discovered the barbell.

Midtown General Manager/Director of Coaching Leo Fontana enjoys coaching everyday people and making them healthier and more fit. “I am passionate about changing someone’s life for the better,” he says. “Having a member of our community do something they thought they never could have done before – It is extremely rewarding to watch the transformation.”
Leo tries to make every member’s workout the best hour of their day. He advises everyone reading this to “Take a chance to live a happier and healthier life,” he says. “It is worth it.”

General Manager/Marketing Director Joel Cochran specializes in new member orientation and developing individuals who want to make a change in their lives. He wants to help people find a balance in their physical, emotional and spiritual lives by providing a positive attitude in all of my actions and words. “My main passion is to bring the same joy and fulfillment that I have found through CrossFit to as many people as possible,” he says.
He loves seeing the positive changes in his members and being part of that success. Joel discovered CrossFit in a tough time in his life and says it gave him the direction he “sorely needed” as well as a passion to help others through fitness. “I look at every day as a blessing and want to share my enthusiasm about CrossFit, life and God with anyone who is willing to listen,” he says.
Coach/Events Manager Sabrina Blajos works hard to create and participate in events that build a stronger community both inside and outside the gym. “I am passionate about teaching, inspiring, and helping my members grow into the best versions of themselves,” she says.
Sabrina is inspired to bring her best to the gym every day because her members trust her to lead and guide them in the right direction. “They truly are my friends, and they are why I strive to be a better coach, mentor, and most importantly, a better friend to all of them,” she says.
Her favorite quote is, “Live in such a way that if someone spoke badly of you, no one would believe it.”
Arthur “Old Man” Anderson played an array of sports all through school, but after he graduated college and entered the workforce, he let his athletic abilities diminish. He started CrossFit five years ago, and today brings his perspective to his classes at Double Edge Fitness.
“I felt I could use my unique perspective of starting CrossFit in my late 40s to help people my age feel more comfortable with CrossFit, its movements and concepts,” he says.
Nutrition Coach/CrossFit Coach
Coach Joaquin Ramirez specializes in changing lives by helping people attain their goals and become happier and healthier through fitness and nutrition. “I love seeing the members do things they tell me they can’t,” he says. “I love seeing them achieve their goals, and I love seeing our members find that passion to better themselves.”
Joaquin played football and competed in powerlifting before becoming a CrossFit coach. His favorite quote is, “There is no elevator to success. You have to take the stairs.”
Coach/Social Media Specialist
Coach/Social Media Specialist Kris Thompson wants to show people that anyone can do CrossFit. “It’s so much more than exercising,” she says. “I love watching people achieve their goals, seeing their hard work pay off and them discovering all the things they were never able to do before.”
Kris discovered CrossFit as a student at University of Nevada – Reno when she signed up for an elective strength training CrossFit class. “Just like many others, I fell in love,” she says. “After doing CrossFit for a couple of years and knowing how much happiness it brought me, I wanted to share it with others and help them feel the way CrossFit makes me feel.”
Trent Soares is originally from the Big Island of Hawaii and says “I am able to bring the positive atmosphere of the islands into the gym that can make any class feel the Aloha spirit!”
Trent left Hawaii to attend University of Nevada and earn his degree in community health services while pursuing his dreams of being a college baseball player. “As a former wolf-pack athlete, I understand the community aspect of Reno and look to generate the same energy into everyday classes,” he says. “Teaching the methodology of CrossFit allows me to share a fitness revolution that I believe in 100%.”
Nutrition Coach/CrossFit Coach
Coach Tammy has been a Nutrition Coach and Crossfit Coach since 2014 and has helped several hundred individuals reach their nutrition and fitness goals. “It is truly my passion to help others live healthier lives.” She says. “Nothing is more rewarding than the excitement my clients get when they reach their goals.”

Dawn resigned from a long career with the US Forest Service in wildland firefighting to pursue her passion of health and fitness and found a home at Double Edge after being a member since it’s inception in 2014. She started coaching CrossFit and teaching yoga in February of 2018 and enjoys being the bridge in the gap between them. “I love seeing people find relief from both physical and mental/emotional soreness inside the studio!”
Coach Wes grew up in San Diego and played almost every sport imaginable. Always looking for that competitive feeling again, years later he was introduced to CrossFit and instantly fell in love.
He is now apart of the Introduction Class here at Double Edge as well as coaching classes throughout the day. “I knew I wanted to be apart of introducing people to CrossFit after I experienced first hand the impact it has on living a healthier life through nutrition, exercise, and the community” he said.
His passions include family, CrossFit and all the outdoors activities the Reno/ Tahoe area has to offer.
