Coach/Owner/President Derek Wellock says he specializes in having a good time. “CrossFit is supposed to be recess for adults, and I strive to make sure when I am working with people they are having a good time getting healthy,” he says.
Derek’s favorite quote is Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” “The parallels between fitness and faith are awesome,” he says. “Taking a new person who is scared of CrossFit and having the ability to guide, teach, and empower them to have the confidence to come in and change their lives is the most rewarding thing I get to do every single day. Helping members take the daily steps to lifestyle commitment and lifestyle change is truly a blessing.”
Co-Owner Jacob Wellock has always been an action junkie with a passion for extreme sports. Motocross and Boardercross (snowboard racing) were his biggest addictions until he discovered CrossFit.
Jacob’s two favorite quotes sum up his passion in the gym and for life in general. They are “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” – Philippians 4:13. And “No citizen has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training … what a disgrace it is for a man to grow old without ever seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.” – Socrates.
“Both of these apply to me daily and are specific to how I feel about everything I do with myself physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually,” he says.
Head Coach Alvie Hafen has been a CrossFit addict for nearly a decade and says he loves making people smile. “I want to help someone change their life,” he says. “I want to see people succeed.”
By using his expertise in Olympic movements such as the clean and jerk and snatch, he helps his members’ confidence and happiness grow. “From completing the first pull-up, the first double under, losing 20 lbs., or a PR on the back squat, this is all part of the members’ journey,” he says. “I am just happy to be a part of their journey to a more fit and healthy life.”
When Alvie isn’t in the gym, you can find him devouring pizza while binge-watching superhero movies.

Trent Soares is originally from the Big Island of Hawaii and says “I am able to bring the positive atmosphere of the islands into the gym that can make any class feel the Aloha spirit!”
